MnChallengers – Northfield Cruise – August 2010

We had 12 cars on our cruise to Northfield on Saturday for Nick Sinclairs 5th Annual “Low Brow High Octane” event. Not bad considering most of the club went to Rock Falls with Midwest Mopars for the club fun run day. Maybe next year we can crash Rock Falls during the MWM event and join in on some race day action.

I didn’t know how many Challengers would make the event so I opened the cruise up to some friends with classic muscle cars. We met at O’Reilly’s in Lakeville near Buck Hill, talked about cars as we waited for more cars, then hit the cruise with tires spinning out of the lot. In my excitement to line up with Ian in his 71 Challenger I missed our turn. Ian spanked me at launch as I spun my tires. I’ve never raced anyone before so I didn’t feel bad. We hit Northfield at 5pm as planned, parked our cars, checked out the cars, grabbed a bite to eat and had a great time. Looking forward to the next event.

Cheers,
Steve

MnChallengers – Hastings Meet – August 2010

When I woke up this morning to rain, I thought this might be the first event with low attendance. I was so wrong. The weather forecast went from bad to good around 11am. And what a wonderful day it was. When I pulled into O’Reilly’s we already had 12 cars on site waiting to get started. By random chance, a Challenger drove by the store, saw all the cars and came back to see what was up. Within a few minutes, he was in on the festivities. We left the parking lot with 15 cars for the cruise. That is a respectable number for clubs four times our size. Very cool. After a quick stop on the frontage road for a photo we were off to Hastings. I think we hit a red light at every intersection but that was good because we never had any issues with breaking the pack.

We pulled into Hastings a little early so we took the cars for a pass down main street and back before parking at Haley’s Fireplace Store. The general manager pulled in when we arrived and said we could park in front of the store in the grass. I about fell over when he said this. We had fantastic parking. I placed the first few cars where I wanted them and before I knew it everyone was parked and we looked well placed in front of the store. When Wolfy broke out the banner and got it up on the deck behind the cars, it was icing on the cake. I’ve been doing the club thing for a long time. Let me tell you, we looked good.

After some socializing we were off to trek the nine blocks, up hill, to Green Mill. They had a banquet room reserved for us and the waitress did well adapting to our party of 30 people instead of the planned 15-20. The food was great and the service was timely. I look forward to doing more events at this location.

Once checks were paid, we were off to trek back to our cars. People socialized, chatted with spectators, hung out and made way to main street to see the cars. We had a great time. Thanks to all who made this such a nice event. Watch your email for details on the next meet.

Cheers,
Steve
