Go Kart Racing, Burgers and Beer – Saturday December 8th

WHAT: Go Kart Racing, Burgers & Beer
WHERE: Pro-Kart (Burnsville)

TIME: 2:30pm to 6pm

UPDATE: We have the track from 3pm to 4pm. Cost will be $15 per person and includes everything you need to race.

DETAILS: Let’s go kart racing at Pro-Kart in Burnsville! MnChallengers have the track all to ourselves from 3pm to 4pm. Cost for the event is $15 per person. This includes helmet rental, license, and anything else you need to go racing. Don’t want to race? Come watch the fun from the mezzanine area reserved for the club, or the large spectator area. The mezzanine is up over the track with a great view that puts you right in the middle of the racing mayhem.

TROPHY: To spice things up a bit, the member with the fastest time on the track will win a trophy for bragging rights.

TRACK TIME: We have the track all to ourselves from 3pm to 4pm. In effort to optimize track time, be at the track at 2:30 so we can fill out forms and get trained on driving our carts. If you show up later, that’s fine too. At 4pm our session on the track ends.

DINNER: After we are done racing, we will head over to Buffalo Tap in Savage for some food and beverage. Buffalo Tap has great burgers, wings and adult beverage. When we hit ten RSVP’s for the event, I will reserve the private room at Buffalo Tap so we can all sit together.

Fall Cruise thru Bluff Country Scenic Byway – Saturday Oct 6th

WHAT: Fall Cruise

DETAILS:
While seeking a destination for our fall cruise, I discovered the Historic Bluff Country Scenic Byway. Constructed in the 1920′s, the road served as a vital link for large and small cities in the northern tier of the country. In 2002, Highway 16 was awarded the distinction of being designated a National Scenic Byway by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Our fall cruise will take us down Hwy 61 along the Great River Road to LaCrescent. We’ll then head west on the scenic byway to Preston. There we will take a tour of the Mystery Cave then return home on Hwy 52. Some may not want to tour the cave so we can break up the group in Preston for those that want to stay and those that want to return home to the cities. Some may want to take a walk around town as Forestville will be having their annual “Harvest Days” event.

Our fall cruise last year to Elmers in Fountain City was a 4-hour round trip drive time. This cruise is a bit longer at five-hours round trip. With a lunch stop, cave tour and various rest stops along the way, this will be an all day event likely ending around 4pm or 5pm in Coates.

Lunch: We will be stopping at one of two places for lunch. The A&W in Spring Valley or the Branding Iron in Preston.

Mystery Cave: One hour tours of the cave cycle ever hour this time of year. I am working with staff at the cave to get our visit scheduled. Cost for the tour is $10 for adults and $6 for kids. The tour is first come first served. Reservations are not available. This means we may have to break up in groups depending on size.

Forestville Harvest Day: Forestville in Preston will be celebrating Harvest Day on Saturday and Sunday. Experience 19th century harvesting in southeast Minnesota. Visitors will learn about planting, cultivating and harvesting different varieties of crops through hands-on demonstrations. They will see corn harvesting, grain fanning, cider pressing, corn shelling, as well as quilting and apple pie baking. Horse drawn wagon rides will also be offered.

2nd Annual All Mopars at the Automotorplex – Sat Sept 15th

Mopar enthusiasts in the midwest have been asking for a “Big” Mopar show later in the summer. Well now we have it. Bruno, the owner of the Automotorplex in Chanhassen, has agreed to host the 2nd Annual All Mopars Show at his facility. With space for over 750 cars, let’s show Bruno how many Mopar fanatics we have in the midwest.

WHAT: 2nd Annual All Mopars Show at the Automotorplex

TIME: 9am – Noon
ADMISSION: FREE

DETAILS: MnChallengers will be hosting an All Mopar Show at the Automotorplex in Chanhassen on September 15th. The show will run from 9am to 12pm. This is a public event, open to anyone who owns a Mopar new or old, classic or custom. The show is FREE to participants and spectators. Miss Car Craft 2011 will be available for photos and sign posters at her booth. Local hot rod artist Nick Sinclair will also be onsite with art and t-shirts. There will be a prize raffle for participants and spectators. If you own a Mopar, you will not want to miss this annual event.

SPECTATOR PARKING: There will be spectator parking at the entrance into the facility from Audubon, in the grass at the top of the hill.

DISPLAY CARS: Display cars will be limited to Mopar Only.

TOP 21 AWARDS: Club representatives and sponsors will choose the Top 21 rides. Winners will receive custom 8×10 plaques.

DASH PLAQUES: We will have dash plaques for the first 125 cars.

PIG ROAST: The pig roast is open to all participants and spectators at $6 for a pulled pork sandwich, beans and a coke. That’s a good deal and we are very excited to bring some great food to our event. The pig roast is FREE to all paid members of MnChallengers.

DETAILS: Meet at O’Reilly Auto parts in Lakeville near Buck Hill at 3pm. Cruise to Mopar Ponderosa in Prior Lake. Attend Midwest Mopars monthly membership meeting. Enjoy BBQ brats, hot dogs, chips, pop and etc. Check out all the cool cars and Mopar nostalgia on display. Talk cars and meet new people. We will stop at a grocery store during the cruise to purchase “something to share”. If you have something already, bring it and you can guard our cars while we shop.

MnChallengers Fall Picnic – Monday September 3rd

WHAT: MnChallengers Fall Picnic
WHERE: Elm Creek Park Reserve – Picnic Shelter “Deer”
WHEN: Monday September 3, 2012 (Labor Day)
TIME: 11:30

DETAILS: We have reserved the park shelter “Deer” for our Fall picnic! MnChallengers will be providing the main dish for our picnic and ask that everyone bring an hors d’oeuvre or dessert to share please (electricity is available for crock pots).

CRUISE: Main cruise will start from Fury South Saint Paul. Will meet at 11:30am and leave at 12:00 sharp. If anyone would like to form their own mini cruise if you do not live near SSP, please feel free to branch off and meet us there! Arrival time approximately 12:45-1pm.

PICNIC: If you are unable to do the cruise but would still like to come join us at the picnic, we will eat at 2pm.

THE PARK: In the area that this picnic shelter is, there is a volleyball pit, a playground, and a swimming pond. The swimming pond is a fee of $3 for the day, this is the last day the pond will be open and it is open until 8pm. It is man-made, filtered, and chlorinated.There are bike and walking trails. Pets are not permitted in the picnic areas. We have the picnic shelter reserved for the entire day until 9pm.

DESCRIPTION: Scenic Cruise to New Richmond for Car Show. Fund Raiser for MnChallengers!

DETAILS: Cruise to Bernard’s Northtown Dodge dealership in New Richmond WI on Saturday August 18th. Meet and leave at 9 a.m. at the Holiday Station off of I-94 (215 Manning Lake Elmo) and cruise to Birkmose Park in Hudson. Enjoy the view and take some photos of the scenic St. Croix River and the Challengers, then make our way up to New Richmond. Cruise in around 10:30 and leave at noon or after. Bernard’s will provide 1 meal ticket per car, but once we have an idea of the number of cars, they will try and get us 2 per car. The food last year was excellent! They are planning on providing each car with a dash plaque as well. There is also a classic car show just up the road in Star Prairie from 2pm to 4pm for anyone interested.
